Since we have no official sitewide plot at the time, this thread will mostly be dedicated to some information about TS and the fictional land of Atera. If you have any questions not listed below, feel free to reply to this thread and we'll add them to this post along with the answer to your question. Let's dive right in, shall we?What is Atera?
Atera is a fictional world ruled by equines. Functioning much the same way as Earth, it's weather patterns and creatures are exact replicas. Unlike Earth, it's land mass is not broken apart and spread across the ocean. Instead, every inch of land is connected and expands almost entirely across the globe (think Pangaea), which is how it manages to house so many different forms of terrains and ecosystems. However, the oceans are named the same as Earth's oceans. We did this to provide some simplicity in where specific Free Lands are located within Atera. Will there be more Free Lands?
Yes! The current Free Lands we have in place are simply there for the moment to provide some sustenance to roleplays while we get the site going. As our site grows, we'll be adding in more lands for characters to roam freely in to meet others. The same applies to character territories. While there are currently 40 total claimable territories, we plan on expanding this and the Free Lands as we grow. What makes TS different?
We are a roleplay that welcomes all people, from beginners to advanced players. We want character interactions to define which direction the site goes, instead of dictating everything that happens on TS. TS was designed with the roleplayers and characters in mind. The way we see it, roleplays are a place of storytelling, and almost anything can happen! When you have multiple people telling a story together, you never know which direction things might go next! What is the site plot?
Simple! There isn't one! As mentioned above, roleplays are about storytelling. Rather than having a set-in-stone story that members would need to create their characters and roleplays around, we wanted to do things a little differently. For this reason, TS will develop around the characters and their unique stories instead. We feel that this gives roleplayers freedom to create their characters and play them their way instead of having a centralized plot that will determine where the site heads next, despite the stories unraveling in threads. As someone who has been roleplaying for about 10 years now, it can be frustrating to play on a site where some characters are friends with everyone and suddenly the plot changes and now everyone must be at war with everyone else in order to adhere to the site's new plot. Likewise, it was always disappointing when a seemingly peaceful world suddenly turned to chaos for one reason or another and everyone's storytelling and characters had to adapt overnight. We don't want that here, so instead, the way characters interact on our site will determine our future plot, and that plot will be centralized around the characters of TS, not the other way around.
