Description: Most of Valkyrie reflects the rocky mountain horse, only giving way to her pintabian bloodlines in the rabicano markings and the two stockings on her front legs. She wears socks/half pasterns on her hind legs, and all those white markings are a nice distraction from the fact that her muscular, yet slender legs are a bit too short for her body. Like both breeds, her ears are pointed and curve slightly inward on her head, almost giving her the appearance of devil's horns. A small, misshapen diamond sits on her face, often covered by her long forelock, with a large snip on her nose. She adorns bright, amber eyes that are crowned by long black lashes, almost standing out just as much as her unique markings.
Personality: Valkyrie is an easy mare to read. She's an open book to anyone who wants to read through the pages. Don't be fooled, she's only letting you know what she wants you to know and some things you hear may just be flat out lies. She doesn't shy away from deceit and has even been known to use it to her advantage. But, before you write her off as nothing more than a conniving vixen, consider this; there's two sides to every coin, and Valkyrie is no exception.
Off the bat, Valkyrie is likeable. She's confident and secure in herself, even when she's just playing a role. That's not to say she's full of herself, as she doesn't pride herself on such things as vanity. Instead, she is proud of her intelligence and is confident in that above all else. She's charming, charismatic and overall social and outgoing, to say the very least. Whether it's real or an act, well, that's where the deceit comes into play. Valkyrie has one goal in mind for her life and she plans to see it to fruition. When someone can be used to further her path, she uses them like a puppet in whatever way she can, then vanishes without a trace, typically when her victim's life is in complete ruin thanks to her manipulation and lies. However, in most cases, she seems as normal as they come. She enjoys day-to-day interactions and meeting new equines, and does not go out of her way to start trouble. She only seizes opportunities as they present themselves. Otherwise, she is actually kind and fun-loving. She cares about the strife of others and tries to help in any way that she can.
When it comes to personal relationships and alliances, Valkyrie is fiercely loyal. She would never turn her back on allies or those she holds dear, not even if it meant achieving her goal. If you have to question her loyalty to you, she likely isn't loyal to you. She carefully selects those that she is loyal to, almost as if she was trying to pick the finest roses from the garden for the most exquisite bouquet. Because she is level-headed and poised, she is a valuable asset to any alliance as a negotiator, spy, or a peacekeeper during heated discussions and civil unrest. She can be the voice the reason in many situations. Because of her charm and charisma, she is the best choice for swaying minds and encouraging change. But, her services come at a price; your unwavering loyalty. Those who betray her will find their secrets exposed to allies and enemies alike, discarded from her vault of secrets carelessly. It's probably best to stay on the good side of the fence. After all, if you're not with her, you're against her.
As for her ultimate plan? Well, she wants nothing more than to rule all of Atera. She believes that under her rule, she could enforce freedom, equality, and a world that is not tainted by the ugliness of deplorable beasts that pillage and slaughter to their heart's content without punishment. She's confident, borderline delusional, of her ability to change Atera and make the world of the equines better for everyone involved. It is her hope that she will achieve this goal with someone she holds dearly by her side and a herd of strong, proud equines behind her, backing her every step of the way.
History: Valkyrie's story starts in the caves of a small mountain, just a few hours before sunrise. It was late spring at the time of her arrival and life was seemingly easy, for the most part. Three mare's from her mother's herd roamed with them. Two of them were Valkyrie's aunts, and the other was a passerby forced into the harem. They and her mother had the kind of camaraderie that most would long for. There were always laughs and gossip, among talks of other things, and stallions were not allowed. While it wasn't a rare occasion that a stallion would be around, it also wasn't intended for it's implied purpose. It was uncommon that one of the mares would have to sink that level, as, for the most part, a little flirting and temptress like behavior was enough to get whatever they wanted, or needed, from almost any stallion. If you weren't someone of power or a predominate figure, you were of no use at all and were paid no mind. The group would instead simply be friendly or aggressive, depending on the party's intentions.
As Valkyrie and grew into the lifestyle, it was clear that the things her band-mates and mother did, were not suited to her. Her mother was the "actress" of the group, one of her aunts a spy, the other a strategist. The fourth mare was a jack-of-all-trades type, being a bit older than her band-mates and was used where she was needed. Valkyrie instead exuded a great talent at communicating and negotiating. She almost always knew what to say and when to say it and it saved the group from many a regretful night with a stallion, trying to gain intel. She became a valuable asset and began to earn her keep like the rest of the mares. The herd began to function something like a "gang" of sorts and before Valkyrie was halfway through her second year, four more mares joined their group, making them nine strong. The herd served others in need while helping mares and their young escape from brutes who did not provide them with good lives. Any stallion they crossed paths with was just a tool to find their next target.
Shortly after entering her third year, Valkyrie left the band of mares. Rumors of a brute who was ruthless and blood-thirsty had begun to circulate and a few of the mares had been sent to investigate. After tracking down the stallion's herd, they confirmed the rumors and a plan was set into action. Valkyrie's mother and another mare would be the distraction while the rest helped the group escape. They didn't know that the stallion had been playing their game for a while, undetected. He, personally, had listened and watched them for months, and felt they would make a fitting example to his harem that had become.. defiant. Everything that happened next was a trap. As her mother and the other mare "accidentally" ran into the stallion, she and the rest of the group headed for the herd, trying to get everyone out as quickly and quietly as possible. But, before they could clear the brute's land, the other mare returned, out of breath, covered in sweat and blood. She was badly injured, but it obvious from the look of distress, confusion, and fear in her eyes that not all of the blood coating her pelt was hers. No one spoke a word, but instead looked at each other before laying all eyes on Valkyrie who stood frozen. Hushed whispers began to erupt among the herd they escorted, most of them fearful they would not escape now that they'd stopped. Valkyrie suddenly came back to reality and huffed out, "stick to the plan. Go.", which sent the other mares into a flurry of urgency. Valkyrie took up the rear, distancing herself from the others so she would be the first thing the stallion came across if he was out looking.
Surprisingly, the rest of the group and the herd made it out safely, with no stallion in tow. The injured mare was tended to by some of the others and they all mourned the death of Valkyrie's mother together. However, she did not feel that she could fill the footsteps her mother left behind, so with a heavy heart, she left the herd behind, wanting to try things a little differently and build something her mother would be proud of. The goodbyes were hard, but with promises to visit proclaimed, Valkyrie knew that she could always return here.
Other Info: She is still loyal to the band of mares she grew up with.
